ALBUM REVIEW: V/A 'Frost & Wagner - Remixes' out 12 May on Sonar Kollektiv

'Remixes' does exactly what it says on the tin. Frost & Wagner go way back, originally hooking up in the Berlin reggae band Growing Tree in the late 80's.

The duo really see remixing as an art form in it's own right and it's this that makes the songs on the album really special.

As a fan of Sonar Kollektiv for a long time, I know a lot of the original tracks. They have really done a good job of not only making the songs sound different, but actually very much like original compositions as oppose to simple remixes in the form many regard as the norm.

I was particularly impressed with the way they used the vocals from Ben Westbeech's 'So Good Today' to create a cool summery reggae vibe for their remix. There are plenty of great songs to choose from including remixes of Tosca, Clara Hill and Re:Jazz to name just a few.

If you like reggae and in particular the Best Seven label sound then this is a must have compilation. The songs work well together as a relaxing album or individually as part of a DJ set.
