This superb chilled out, electronica album, FLF's first in 8 years is a truly ingenious heart-warming, hilarious and in parts melancholy fusion between old family recordings edited and mixed with contemporary sounds to create an interwoven family history that is highly personal, but that will most certainly bring back nostalgic memories for you as an individual.The album comes in a 2 disc edition with disc 2 comprising a special selection of remixes from fellow luminaries including Rob Da Bank & Chris Coco, Padded Cell, The Go! Team and Jon Kennedy.
You can bet your life you will hear some of the songs on the album in TV commercials soon, if not already. The aptly named 'The Sea And The Sky' - which is just perfect soundtrack material - is already the theme for Sky TV's 'Believe in Better' campaign.
Future Loop Foundation aka Mark Barrott explains how the project came about;
"There seems to come a point in most people's lives when they start to experience strong feelings of nostalgia for their childhood and teenage years. Towards the end of 2005, my cousin sent through a CD containing digitised interview style vocal recording he had recorded of all the family in the early to mid 70's. On listening to them I started to feel that they themselves could actually become the focus of the new album. It also occurred to me that I had a unique opportunity to showcase my family life in the 70's and to highlight how the family unit has changed over the past 30 years."
Barrott has done an excellent job with this project and has certainly achieved his main objectives with the album. Have a look at the specially created video that accompanies the project below. It is rather interesting to see how different people acted back then, especially when you think it is only our parents and Grandparents generation. Who wears a shirt and tie to go to the beach nowadays?
